After months of no singing, rules of six and face covering, the light at the end of the tunnel finally seems to be upon us as we begin to get singing again. Behind the scenes, our Support Team have been writing risk assessments and planning for our rehearsals and events.
#LoveToSing, our children's choir, was able to resume a number of weeks ago and welcomed new members to the group. They're planning to have a half-term extended rehearsal and are looking forward to performances over the summer.
St. Edmund's Choir resumed rehearsals following the rule of six guidance and rehearsals are well underway for the summer concert Waterloo Sunset on Saturday 17 July at 7:30pm.
St. Edmund’s Choir and friends will perform in the garden at St. Edmund's Church for their first post-lockdown event featuring The Beatles, musical theatre favourites, sea shanties and more as the sun sets over Waterloo.
Everyone is welcome to bring their own drinks, nibbles and blankets to sit back and listen to the first live performance from St. Edmund's Choir since March 2020.
Charlie Corkin, Director of SEMusic, said "I am absolutely delighted that our fantastic group of singers are able to meet again and make music together. Whilst we've been able to make do with Zoom and virtual events, nothing beats coming together and singing."
"Our Christmas concert in terms of numbers was our biggest ever event, with more than 4,000 people tuning in to watch our pre-recorded concert. It has meant that we have been able to reach an audience that we wouldn't ordinarily engage with and we are planning how we can keep them involved in our events in the future."
"For now, our main focus is getting used to singing again with each other as we begin to get back to normal."
Waterloo Sunset takes place on Saturday 17 July at 7:30pm in the Garden, St. Edmund's Church, Waterloo. Tickets are £5 and available on the door.
