And we're off!

September has come and gone and SEMusic have met again after their summer break.

Following their hugely successful 'Who Am I?' concert in the summer, the choir are now back together and working on what they are known for most - Christmas! I know it's the beginning of October, but trust me, it'll be here quicker than we all think. In fact We've only got ten more rehearsals before the big night.

I always find it difficult start with Christmas in September, it can drag all the fun out of the season if you're constantly surrounded by it. But thankfully for me, and due to the utter brilliance of this choir, we've been able to start without it being overly Christmassy.

One of SEMusic's best attributes is that the choir can switch and change styles at will. It makes programming music for them so much more exciting than other choirs I've had to do this with. SEMusic are capable of singing anything from high Classical to the most modern pop (and everything in between), and that's what we're getting in this Christmas concert. There will be some Bach, the traditional carols, more modern Christmas songs and even some newly written Christmas music in a variety of styles.

This years Christmas concert will be special for many reasons. We are, as we were last year, being joined by SEMusic Juniors and combining forces for Christmas. It's always special when the Juniors join us and I'm looking forward to seeing what they are preparing for us this year.

Along with the Juniors, we are also going to be joined by the choir of Sacred Heart Catholic Academy. Sacred Heart is the local high school to our choir and it's a pleasure to have been able to invite them to perform some songs during our concert. Again I can't wait to see what they are going to produce for the evening. With the coming together of these three choirs we are able to fashion a path towards the future. The Juniors will be able to see what is possible in the next part of their education, and the Choir will be able to see the talent that is coming our way in the future, both from inside the Juniors and from Sacred Heart.

As I sign off this blog, its very important for me to say that tickets will be available soon for our Christmas Concert: Home for Christmas. The official go-live date for ticket sales is 10 October 2025. Our Christmas Concert is always popular so make sure that you get your tickets and are able to start the festive season with us. Make sure you check back on our website for the link to tickets.

Keep singing, and hope to see you all soon,

Ben
