Patron
Midway through 2024, as the Choir went through its change of Director, it was decided that we would like a Patron of our charity. The decision was an easy one to make. The Director, Deputy Director and Assistant Director all agreed who we would like to ask to be our first official patron.
Martin O'Boyle
Martin was the founder of the original St Edmund's Choir. From the early days of four people singing at Mass in the church of St Edmund of Canterbury, to growing a choir to what we have today, Martin led the choir for the first 21 years. When he stood down, he remained an integral part of the choirs make-up. As the choir transitioned into its third chapter, Martin has remained and integral part of the choir, maybe not as front and centre as he used to be, but definitely behind the scenes. His contribution is invaluable to the continued success of the Choir.
Honourary Patron
Each year, members of the choir nominate who they wish to be our Honourary Patron for a period of one year. This is the highest award that the Choir can give to its members.
2026 -
2025 - Anne Dickinson, MBE
Our lovely, Auntie Anne Dickinson, was chosen to be the first Honourary Patron of SEMusic. She works tirelessly for the Choir, learning all the music, accompanying during rehearsals and performing during concerts - and all for free! Like us, she believes that music should be accessible to all as well as being fun! There are countless stories that every member of the choir can tell you about how she has made rehearsals fun, her stories of previous performances, her trip to London to see ABBA, dressed appropriately of course, and the mischievous twinkle in her eye. We are proud that Anne is a part of our Choir, and also of the other work that she has and continues to do with other societies across Liverpool to make music accessible for all.
