Honourary Patron
In the winter of 2024, SEMusic instituted a brand new award: Our Honourary Patron.
Our Honourary Patron award is given to a member of the choir who lives out our motto of music being Free, Fun and For everyone. The award is chosen annually by members of the choir through a nomination procedure. The title of 'Honourary Patron' is bestowed on a member during our Christmas Concert and their tenure runs from 1st January to 31st December of the year following the concert.
2026 Honourary Patron
Our Honourary Patron for 2026 is Joan Lawler.
Joan was a founding member of the choir, starting with our first director Martin back in 1997. She is a fount of knowledge, fun and friendly. She is musical and poetic in equal quantity.
It was a pleasure to see her shocked face when her name was called as she was busy looking around supporting everyone else.
Thank you, Joan for being you. You help make our choir what we are.
2025 Honourary Patron
Our Honourary Patron for 2025 was Ann Dickenson MBE
Our accompanist, 'Auntie' Ann Dickenson was our first Honourary Patron. Ann works tirelessly across the region helping societies make music and we are honoured to have her as our accompanist. Anne is a true musician, a good friend to all and very funny. Listening to her stories can make you laugh and cry in equal measure, as a comedian once said it's how she tells them!
